Pizza Hut had just become an official sponsor of the NFL and saw this as an opportunity to not only own game day but leverage the loyalty of NFL fans to grow its loyalty program - driving Hut Rewards through the roof.
Truth is, people aren’t fans of the NFL, they're fans of their teams and that connection is deep. In fact, they believe wearing a lucky jersey, or eating a certain game day meal can help their team win. We used this opportunity to make The Hut part of every fan’s ritual.
We invited fans from every team to join Pizza Hut Rewards, and subscribe to Game Plan to have their lucky game foods delivered right to their door. They also received personal emails with exclusive deals just in time for kick-off. Every order entered fans into a weekly sweeps where they could win team merchandise which brought the stadium atmosphere home.
